With nine professorships and more than thirty staff members, the German Department is the third-largest department within the Faculty of Humanities at Leibniz University Hannover.
At its location on the Conti Campus, the department’s teaching staff train between 800 and 900 students annually in various teacher training programmes and the Master’s programme in Modern German Literature. The Master’s programme in German and English Linguistics, developed in cooperation with the English Department, is being phased out.
